The only King story I'd definitely avoid is UR. This book is a lot more action packed and fun to read. The child with the power from the first book is now a grown man. One of the rare instances where a film perfectly matches the book.ĭolores Claiborne - a lesser known one but was perfect as an audiobook.ĭoctor Sleep - a sequel to The Shining, but much more readable and interesting. The only book I've ever been emotional about.ĭifferent Seasons, a book of a few short stories, and specifically Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption. The Green Mile - Probably my favourite book of all time. I've read about 30 King books so here are a few great books which aren't too long so you can get a feel of his writing: Also, I'm not paying too much attention to that remark because we have different tastes to begin with- and I'm not trying to be rude but she definitely doesn't get a lot of references I've made to things in general- pop culture or references to things from different eras so I don't know that she would appreciate anything in this book - she's a millennial that reads mainly supernatural fantasy so - enough said.I just thought it was amusing how she thought nothing happened- she said" 300pgs in and I thought ok something will happen, 600pgs in- ok somethings for sure gonna happen - 900pgs in ok it's the last 100 pages it's gonna be AWESOME- and then NOTHING!! -no dont bother finishing it you'll be mad like I was"- that was her whole take away experience of the Stand- and here I am 5hrs in and I think a lot has happened, I've been quite entertained and every character that is introduced so far I've found completely interesting and I'm loving the dark humor.so just goes to show.different strokes.and so on. when I told a fellow reader/ listener that I was listening to this ( at this point- I had literally just started- was an hour in) she said." Ughh that is the WORST BOOK I'VE EVER READ-NOTHING HAPPENS- DONT BOTHER FINISHING IT" Now I know everyone has books like that and I've heard ppl say that about a lot of King's work- that nothing happens - I felt that way or pretty close to it when I read Tommyknockers- I did reread it years later and thought differently about it, it's still not really that good imo. There is one thing that's in the back of my mind. Oh I'm definitely listening to it until the end and I do like it a lot- just so far not as much as I did 11/22/63- but like u say if it gets REALLY GOOD after more that's great- I looked and I'm actually only 5 hrs 23min in sooo it's way too early to judge.
